One of the most well-known Christmas tunes of all time (popularised by Judy Garland and Frank Sinatra) has been given a relaxing R&B treatment by Swedish singer Janice. ‘Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas’ is filled with extended chords and syncopation that keep the soulful feel persistent throughout, while breathy, vibrato-filled vocals powerfully sit above the mostly electronic accompaniment. Janice cites Prince, Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston as influences, and her recently nomination for Best Newcomer at the 2018 Swedish Grammy’s shows that these influences are coming through in an exciting way. -Dan Peeke
